Faith Travel Conference Overview

Join us February 22-25, 2022, at the Hilton Cincinnati Airport for our Faith Travel Conference. This continuing education event for pastors, student and youth leaders, mission directors and pastors responsible for Christian education will explore how faith travel can empower congregations to grow numerically and spiritually by sharing fellowship in travel.

Leaders at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum will offer participants a unique insider perspective on these amazing attractions that will be sure to stimulate conversation around faith and ministry as part of a fun, educational, enjoyable, inspiring, and worthwhile experience. Your $250 conference registration fee includes three nights room accommodations, nearly all meals including lunch at Emzara’s Kitchen and dinner at the Hofbrauhaus-Newport, KY, as well as admission to both the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. Your conference registration comes with our No Risk Incentive.

Your Host for the Conference

An integral part of your experience at this conference will be the staff at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum who will offer conference participants a unique, insider perspective on these amazing attractions as ministry resources; especially for pastors and congregations who bring groups on faith travel journeys to experience the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.

Your host for our conference, sponsored by Purposeful Journeys by MCE, is our Founder and CEO, Mike Malone. Your host holds degrees from Valparaiso University, Concordia Seminary—St. Louis, University of Chicago, and continues to work toward completing his PhD in early modern European history at Saint Louis University. He served Lutheran congregations for nearly twenty years as a parish pastor. Mike has also developed and taught university courses over more than seven years.

Your Faith Travel Conference as Continuing Education

We encourage clergy to both view and present this conference to their lay leadership as a continuing education experience. Therefore, we have developed this conference such that clergy should take the time to attend as time toward continuing education rather than vacation. We believe we have created a conference experience that will be a fun, educational, enjoyable, inspiring, and worthwhile event that is sure to stimulate conversation around faith and ministry. While we have witnessed firsthand how faith travel can empower congregations to grow numerically and spiritually by sharing fellowship in faith travel, we also recognize that faith travel may not fit in a particular time at a particular ministry setting. For this reason, whether or not participants decide, with their congregations, that faith travel is for them or not, we have created a NO RISK INCENTIVE.

Day 1 – Welcome!
Tuessday February 22, 2022

Conference participants will have until 6:00 PM EST to check into the beautiful Hilton Cincinnati Airport. At 6:30 PM, conference participants will be welcomed with a reception followed by dinner. D

Day 2 – A Unique Perspective on the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum
Wednesday February 23, 2022

Breakfast will be offered at our hotel. At 9:30 AM, we will arrive at the Ark Encounter where the staff will guide us on a tour. Our tour of the Ark Encounter, led by their staff will offer a unique, insider perspective on this attraction. Rather than a time to experience the Ark Encounter as a typical visitor, the staff at the Ark Encounter will focus on this attraction as a resource to empower congregations to grow spiritually and numerically. We will have lunch at Emzara’s Kitchen. After lunch, participants may spend time visiting the Ark Encounter on their own, if they desire. We will return to the hotel for a time to relax before dinner provided at the hotel. B, L, D

Day 3 – Time for Serious Reflection and Relaxation
Thursday February 24, 2022

Breakfast will be offered at our hotel. At 9:30 AM, we will arrive at the Creation Museum where the staff will guide us on a tour that will focus on this attraction as a faith travel destination. The tours of the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum promise to offer conference participants a unique, insider perspective on these amazing attractions that will include many details and a unique perspective on how these attractions are organized and curated to the edification of visitors. We will enjoy lunch at Noah’s Cafe. Our tour, followed by lunch, will conclude early enough in the day to enjoy another attraction in the region, to spend free time at the Creation Museum, or return to the hotel to relax and reflect on all that we have experienced in our tours of the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. We will gather at the Hofbräuhaus in Newport, KY for dinner and a taste of Germany in Northern Kentucky. B, L, D

Day 4 – We Depart to Continue our Work
Friday February 25, 2022

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel. Our conference host will be available through checkout time and beyond, if requested, to answer questions or discuss how faith travel can enliven and empower congregations to grow numerically and spiritually. Purpose

This continuing education event for clergy will explore how faith travel can empower congregations to grow numerically and spiritually by sharing fellowship in travel. Leaders at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum will offer participants a unique insider perspective on these amazing attractions that will be sure to stimulate conversation around faith and ministry as part of a fun, educational, enjoyable, inspiring, and worthwhile experience.

Consistent with our philosophy in creating travel experiences for cohorts of fellow travelers, this conference will, for instance, balance rich experiences at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum sure to stimulate serious conversation over faith and ministry with time to relax and reflect as well as events such as the bourbon experience that are just plain fun.

We recognize from direct experience that the time of a pastor is very valuable. We believe pastors who choose to invest their time in participating in this conference will come away with ideas and perspectives that will serve their congregations well for the time invested.

Our Philosophy

We hope you will measure the quality of your journey, not by the quantity of sights you see, but by the invaluable experiences you absorb.

Balance of stimulating experience, serious reflection…
…and just plain fun.

One word describes our intention for your journey: balance. We believe each place we visit should relate to whole story, the arc of a narrative. We believe in creating journeys formed and shaped as narratives; journeys that are serious, purposeful, and fulfilling with time to reflect with fellow travelers or alone while providing opportunity for experiences that are just plain fun.

Expert interaction and rich personal encounters

Rather than a trip led by a tour guide trained to disseminate information from a script, we endeavor to seek experts to lead you on a journey who are available as a resource for as much depth as you desire or to leave you to your own reflection.

One beautiful base location

Too often, group travel can leave you feeling like you are part of a herd of a large group of strangers hustled from sight to sight, packing and unpacking everyday of your trip. With us you will stay in one beautiful base location that serves as a base for our excursions. Changing hotels as few times as possible during a journey allows greater opportunity to experience people and culture.

Meticulously planned; yet flexible journey

How does a trip become a journey? Carefully selected excursions that form a narrative, staying in one beautiful base location, with time and flexibility for reflection, and activities that are just plain fun.

Cuisine as a delectable complement to culture and conversation

Cuisine, and the wonderful dining experiences we share in an eclectic array of venues, provide a delectable complement to your rich encounters with the culture and the delightful conversation you enjoy with fellow travelers.
